After 10 Years of Blogs, the Future’s Brighter Than Ever:
In the 10 years since the first site known as a “weblog” went online, the blog has matured from a geek niche to the internet’s dominant publishing paradigm.
Blogs have come a long way since Dec. 17, 1997, when Jorn Barger coined the term “weblog” to describe the list of links on his Robot Wisdom website that “logged” his internet wanderings. In the decade hence, blogs have come to dominate the net, from 100 million personal diaries to the breaking news sections of the august The New York Times.
“It’s the easiest, cheapest, fastest publishing tool ever invented,” said Jeff Jarvis, news blogger, media pundit and director of the interactive journalism program at the City University of New York’s Graduate School of Journalism. “The people have a voice they didn’t have before.”

An interesting study on diet and anxiety from the thrilling Psychosomatics journal… wooohoo
A Case of the Re-Emergence of Panic and Anxiety Symptoms After Initiation of a High-Protein, Very Low Carbohydrate Diet — Ehrenreich 47 (2): 178 — Psychosomatics
Anxiety disorders are common and disabling. Many medical conditions and substances, including prescribed medications, precipitate anxiety symptoms,1 but there are no reported cases of a high-protein, low-carbohydrate diet initiating or exacerbating anxiety symptoms. This report describes a woman with well-controlled panic disorder who developed a return of her panic symptoms, despite previously adequate treatment, after starting a high-protein, very low carbohydrate diet (the Atkins diet).

The Grand List of Console Role Playing Game Cliches
There are few people who love a good console RPG more than I. Games like Final Fantasy, Grandia, and Skies of Arcadia set a standard of majesty and wonder and immersion that American game designers struggle, and usually fail, to match. And yet, as I play the latest masterpiece to come out of Japan I sometimes can’t help the feeling that, somehow, I’ve seen it all before… WARNING! There are spoilers in here for many popular CRPGs. I mean, duh.
hehe this is a hooot!
Here are some really neat stories from the Apple website about universities building Mac-based supercomputers that compete with the biggest in the world, at a fraction of the price. Bowie State’s approach to using their machine, nicknamed the Xseed, as the centerpiece for a five point development plan is really great — it shows how computers can enhance the educational experience of all students, not only those in the sciences or related disciplines. Check it out…
